Your School Nurse is a Registered Nurse: JoAnn B. Escobosa RN, BSN, NCSN
The School Nurse is responsible for managing medication administration; developing nursing assessments on special needs students and developing emergency protocols for children with chronic health conditions. Ms. Escobosa performs student health appraisals, monitors chronic health conditions, develops and implements student care plans, advises school teams on health issues , provides health teaching, makes home visits, and assists with the management of disabled students in the school. As a member of the regular school team, Ms. Escobosa works in conjunction with Administrators, Guidance Counselors, Special Educators, School Physiologist, and a Pupil Personnel Worker to develop special procedures for students, manage immunization compliance, control communicable disease, and improve attendance.
Your School Health Assistant is Ms. Ellen Felice
The Heath Assistants in each school is primarily responsible for managing the health room, providing first aid aid and administering oral medicines as delegated by the school nurse. At SPHS, the health room sees about 50-75 visits daily. The Health Assistants provides on-site care for our students immediate health needs, keeps the families and School Nurse informed of health room visits as needed, and maintains statistics and health room records on almost 2000 students.
